The Project Overview
The Sound of Innocence is a documentary project that records the life of four young living in rural areas in Yunnan province, located in the southeast of China, and their separate cultural instincts and attitudes toward inheritance. The film's theme is whether it can break cultural communication barriers and allow young people to devote themselves to the appreciation and inheritance of traditions in the way they are interested.
As a product marketing director of the marketing team, I constructed the marketing package, including visual design encompassing logos, fonts, and illustrations in the movie. I assessed fundraising organizations and formulated a range of payback mechanisms, including jewelry designs inspired by folklores of their minority culture. I constructed posts and managed social media platforms to reach out to more potential audiences, including Facebook and a Wechat channel titled Cultural Contractor (W-H-B-G-T).

There includes two series of designs, including the fine jewelry series titled Bee in Love and a more affordable series called The Spectacular, both inspired by the folklore of the Chinese minority in Yunnan, China, and their close relationship with mother nature.
After long-term observation, ethnic groups in Yunnan Province, China, developed abundant knowledge and culture around bees, producing versatile and colorful folk culture and art, including folk literature, music, dance, and so on. In the legends, myths, stories, long narrative poems, love songs, fables, and other folk literature of at least 25 ethnic groups in Yunnan, there are many plots of bees, which is an essential part of the ethnic bee culture. For example, bees can be seen active between the lines in national folk literature, such as The Meeting of Bees and Flowers by the Naxi people, Ashima by the Yi people, and Abo Yangzhe by the Hani people.

Bee in Love
Meaning of Love
Ethnic minorities form an interpretation of nature through observing bees and incorporate concepts such as values and cosmology into art forms. They praise the industriousness of bees and the symbolizing connotation of inseparable love between lovers for an interdependent and intimate relationship between bees and flowers.
The aesthetic and auspicious associations inspired my jewelry design. The fusion of flowers and bees expresses the harmonious relationship between man and nature, the intimate intimacy between lovers, and the fantastic imagination of the minorities.
Exquisite Traditional Techniques
The structure of Bee in Love is inspired by the filigree inlay technique in traditional Chinese jewelry techniques, which is famous for its exquisite transparent craftsmanship and gorgeous modeling features. Moreover, the pistil part is inspired by the classic Chinese hairpiece style—Bu Yao. Its shape is elegant, and its parts vibrate and sway with the wearer’s movement. The dialogical design method fosters a playful connection between humans and nature when people affect the motion of jewelry, and jewelry influences wearers’ behavior, senses, cognition, and perception toward traditional culture.
